Writings From the Heart
It all begins with an idea.
Along with painting and drawing, I have a passion for writing. I attended Western State Colorado University where I studied English Literature with an emphasis in Creative Writing. It was at Western that I learned to love fiction and poetry. I dabbled a bit but it is an ongoing writing journey. Below and on the following pages are some of my pieces. I have been published by Greenspring Publishing Company and some of my work has been put into Western State’s Pathfinder Magazine.
Boom!
I have a short fuse,
yes I do, yes I do.
I have a short fuse in my mind.
It’s going to blow,
yes I know, yes I know,
on the next unfortunate soul.
So don’t come close,
dare you get a big dose
of my anger that’s raging inside.
Surviving The Tides
It all begins with an idea.
What wonders await us as we embark on our voyage?
What enchantments are lurking around the corner,
in another memory?
Little do we know the storm that awaits us.
It is the beginning of a tragedy,
the end of a family.
And the start of a dark and horrible lie.
A life of false happiness,
and false hope.
The storm approaches
faster than we can prepare.
It drags us out to sea
teaching us to fend for ourselves.
Our hope seems to fade like the rushing tides
going in and out,
in and out.
As I try to grasp this sacred place,
I begin to lose it as it slips through my fingers.
I feel the last bit of hope drown in my sorrows.
The air slipping through my lungs,
my heart taking its last beat,
slowly pounding to a halt.
The happiness that is now buried
in the memories of my past,
the memories that have haunted me since then.
They hold the happiness of my life,
clinging to my very being.
As I slowly swim ashore to life,
I hear the old calling my name,
begging for my return.”
I cannot move,
cannot feel,
cannot dream.
You pick me up, and carry me in Your arms.
You tell me it will be okay,
and You will never let me go.
I long to have the joy I once felt in that place,
long for it to be a part of me again,
but childhood was the place of death,
and adulthood is now the place of rebirth.
Art, My Window
It all begins with an idea.
Here is my soul
my inner most being,
the piece that defines me.
Glance into my window
with understanding
and benevolence
for it will reveal who I am.
Take heed not to destroy what you see
for I am fragile inside.
Don’t criticize the one you see
for I am what you are,
human.
So now I will
show you a glimpse.
Come and look through
my window.
See what makes me
unique
and extraordinary.
My pencil glides
along the paper gracefully turning,
weaving its way
up and down,
left and right.
Every stroke showing a part of a story;
my story.
I will confess
the deepest part of who I am.
I am adventurous,
and brave
but those things are hidden behind
a fearful, and angry mask
they are revealed on this canvas.
But wait,
not too much.
You can’t see all of me.
You would know all of what
makes me special.
I am not just a copy
of society.
The pencil stops moving,
the piece showing my hesitation.
My hand frozen in time
debating the question,
do I open my window completely?
I watch others
as they open their own windows with ease.
How can they do that?
They do not care what others think
what others say.
These pieces we create aren’t just art
they reveal who you are.
They reveal your soul
and my soul is precious to me.
My heart pounds in my ears
my hands shake.
I can’t breathe,
can’t move
but somehow the brush continues
with caution
weighing what should be shown.
I glance into the window I have opened.
It is too late,
what is created cannot be undone.
You will see me now
and you will understand
what my Creator
has intended.
So, here is my soul
my inner most being,
the piece that defines humanity.
Glance into my window
with understanding
and benevolence
for it has revealed who I am.
Blog Post Title Four
It all begins with an idea.
It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.
Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.
